I certainly can not afford college and I do not want to be in debt. What are some fields that do not require a college degree? I want to earn a lot of money, but it is very difficult for me to go to college. I do not want to sit and waste my time, when I can be earning money now. I am interested in Business, finance, and entertainment: tv and film. Thanks :)

Today I was seeing an employment couselor about improving my current resume. I understand the concept of "bending" the truth like simply ommiting something from a resume and leaving it up to the interviewer to follow up if they want more details. However, my question is, is it okay, in order, to get your foot in the door to say that you had a responsibility that you never had. My employment counselor was making it sound like it would be fine to say that I'd been responsible for shutting down and opening where I was working at my last job, however, I wasn't responsible for it I helped other staff members to carry out opening and closing procedures. Am I being overly cautious by not just sticking with what she suggested I put? I know that what I just mentioned may not sound like a big thing to have on a resume, but in this case it is since the position I'm applying for wants, among other things, a person that can follow the procedures and practices of the type of organization I'm applying for jobs in. Thanks.

I'm working on cover letters for a couple of jobs I want to apply for, but I can't narrow down to whom I should address it. I've read that, if possible, cover letters should be addressed to a specific person rather than "to whom it may concern" or "dear sir or madam" or similar. For one business, I have gotten three different names to whom I could possibly address it. With another, I have four names. I've tried looking online, contacting customer service (getting different names from different representatives), scouring LinkedIn profiles, and anything else I could think of. I'd like to get these off before the end of the week. If anyone could give me suggestions of how to tackle this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

I just got the following email, and it is definitely a scam. The writing style is all off.... the way that he specifies USD instead of putting in a dollar sign or saying dollars tipped me off, and then he specifies use of Western Union ((http://www.fraudwatchers.org/forums/view.php?pg=fw_western_union) and another money transfer option. Plus, what company would let their money go through a middle man when it could be sent straight to them? and if it were going to be a middle man, wouldn't they want it to be a legit money handling company and not just some random person? He also does not give an address, phone number, specific website URL, or specify which specific email address I should "contact" his company through. Plus, the job he mentions isn't mentioned anywhere on the website for the company he claims to represent. They are apparently abusing access to websites like Monster with fraudulant type of activity. I'd like to add, the company he cites seems legit, but whoever wrote the email does not seem to actually be one of their employees. Someone does exist with this name, but I highly doubt that it was actually written by anyone whose real name is such. Scammers often cite real names/companies to seem legit and "gain trust". The email is as follows, although I removed my name and replaced it with underscores. niclabs@gmx.us to me Good day ________________, I am Denis Efremov, a HR chief at NIC Labs Limited. I went to school for Computer Science for two and a half years. I could no longer attend school due to life issues (money, family, etc...). I like to think of myself as a fairly bright individual. While I am technically minded, I have an extensive background in the retail and service industry. I am more than qualified to manage. Besides my retail experience where I was almost always given leadership roles (though few on paper), I also coach local little league teams, as well as organize fund raisers for school. I have applied for numerous jobs, the majority in retail management. I am constantly rejected from the management positions and offered entry level minimum wage jobs. I jump through all the hoops, research/write/edit/rewrite cover letters tailored to each job. I make sure to always find a contact and tell them I am going to contact them, as well as send the cover letter and resume directly to them, as well as the human resource channels. I actually follow through and call them a week or so later. Most of them either ignore me or send me informal emails stating they appreciate my interest but are "pursuing other applicants." When I do get an interview, I get my suits and ties pressed, show up 15-30 minutes early, have copies of my application, resume, references, etc. I have good, researched questions written down to ask. I am polite, forward, firm in tone but not overly boisterous. I make sure to thank them after via email for the interview. I even go so far as to contact them again a week after my interview. I get really into the companies I potentially want to work for. I'm not over shooting my goals. I pick positions relative to my experience and ability that can be seen on my resume/CV. Sales training, marketing coordinator, sales manager, etc. I look for my previous job's salary range as well (40-50k). I want something more than $8-$10/hr. I can't support my family on that. That's pretty much what my daycare bill alone would be if I wasn't at home watching my kids. Can anyone offer me any advice as to what I'm doing wrong. I'd even gladly direct you to my linkedin/careerbuilder/monster profiles etc. And yes, I've even tried not being forward with the recruiters.....I get even less interviews that way. I've been out of work going on a year now (with temp jobs and crappy jobs in between. I just took a cold calling sales job which I absolutely hate. I feel that so many people are losing out on my talents, abilities, and experience simply because I didn't graduate. I've met people in IT fields who have diploma's in MIS and other "technical fields" whom make way more money and have far less knowledge and gumption. I don't even try to apply for IT jobs anymore because I get instantly rejected. My cousin is not very smart. I mean I convinced him Giraffes lay eggs....he was in his mid twenties at this point.....yet he makes a ton of money and when he tells me his job I think to myself "well-trained monkeys could do that." w*f am I doing wrong? Unfortunately, we cannot afford to do this. Unemployment is up and we're getting by by the skin of our seats, so to speak. It's putting more stress on my wife than I care for her to handle, as she does not cope very well with stress and puts strain on our relationship. Have you ever tried to go back to school raising two kids on a single mediocre income?

ACCOUNTING Kelvin Aerospace, Inc., manufactures parts such as rudder hinges for the aerospace industry. The company uses a job-order costing system with a predetermined plantwide overhead rate based on direct labor-hours. On December 16, 2008, the company's controller made a preliminary estimate of the predetermined overhead rate for the year 2009. The new rate was based on the estimated total manufacturing overhead cost of $3,402,000 and the estimated 63,000 total direct labor-hours for 2009: Predetermined overhead rate =3,402,000 63,000 hours = $54 per direct labor – hour This new predetermined overhead rate was communicated to top managers in a meeting on December 19. The rate did not cause any comment because it was within a few pennies of the overhead rate that had been used during 2008. One of the subjects discussed at the meeting was a proposal by the production manager to purchase an automated milling machine built by Sunghi Industries. The president of Kelvin Aerospace, Harry Arcany, agreed to meet with the sales representative from Sunghi Industries to discuss the proposal. On the day following the meeting, Mr. Arcany met with Jasmine Chang, Sunghi Industries' sales representative. The following discussion took place: Arcany: Wally, our production manager, asked me to meet with you because he is interested in installing an automated milling machine. Frankly, I'm skeptical. You're going to have to show me this isn't just another expensive toy for Wally's people to play with. Chang: This is a great machine with direct bottom-line benefits. The automated milling machine has three major advantages. First, it is much faster than the manual methods you are using. It can process about twice as many parts per hour as your present milling machines. Second, it is much more flexible. There are some up-front programming costs, but once those have been incurred, almost no setup is required to run a standard operation. You just punch in the code for the standard operation, load the machine's hopper with raw material, and the machine does the rest. Arcany: What about cost? Having twice the capacity in the milling machine area won't do us much good. That center is idle much of the time anyway. Chang: I was getting there. The third advantage of the automated milling machine is lower cost. Wally and I looked over your present operations, and we estimated that the automated equipment would eliminate the need for about 6,000 direct labor-hours a year. What is your direct labor cost per hour? Arcany: The wage rate in the milling area averages about $32 per hour. Fringe benefits raise that figure to about $41 per hour. Chang: Don't forget your overhead. Arcany: Next year the overhead rate will be $54 per hour. Chang: So including fringe benefits and overhead, the cost per direct labor-hour is about $95. Arcany: That's right. Chang: Since you can save 6,000 direct labor-hours per year, the cost savings would amount to about $570,000 a year. And our 60-month lease plan would require payments of only $348,000 per year. Arcany: That sounds like a no-brainer. When can you install the equipment? Shortly after this meeting, Mr. Arcany informed the company's controller of the decision to lease the new equipment, which would be installed over the Christmas vacation period. The controller realized that this decision would require a recomputation of the predetermined overhead rate for the year 2009 because the decision would affect both the manufacturing overhead and the direct labor-hours for the year. After talking with both the production manager and the sales representative from Sunghi Industries, the controller discovered that in addition to the annual lease cost of $348,000, the new machine would also require a skilled technician/programmer who would have to be hired at a cost of $50,000 per year to maintain and program the equipment. Both of these costs would be included in factory overhead. There would be no other changes in total manufacturing overhead cost, which is almost entirely fixed. The controller assumed that the new machine would result in a reduction of 6,000 direct labor-hours for the year from the levels that had initially been planned. When the revised predetermined overhead rate for the year 2009 was circulated among the company's top managers, there was considerable dismay. Requirement 1:Recompute the predetermined rate assuming that the new machine will be installed. (Round your answer to 2 decimal places. Requirement 2:What effect (if any) would this new rate have on the cost of jobs that do not use the new automated milling machine? Requirement 3:Why would managers be concerned about the new overhead rate?

Have you ever tried to go back to school raising two kids on a single mediocre income?

if I were to get one? That is any kind of job, as in retail, child care, receptionist or anything like that. OR what about a tattoo? Well thing is I am 35 and never had any of these and just would like to get one of them before I die. Just a thing with me. Been thinking about it for a while.
