How does one get over the fear of investing in stocks... i am risk averse and prefer a CD instead.?

Start small. Set aside a portion of cash/savings you are willing to risk. It is highly unlikely you will much or all of its value, especially if you invest in a large corporation like Coca Cola or Anheuser Busch. you should probably go with a a Mutual fund. Just make sure it is a no load fund

Read as much books as possible. It's really not that risky. People are anxious about investing in the market is becuase they lack knowledge and understanding. do what lets you sleep well at night. also look at I-Bonds @ higher yield than CD's, don't have to pay taxes on interest until you cash them in. Can hold for 30 years.
