What's the best way to begin the process of looking for a job in another country?

I'm looking for work in another country overseas and am trying to find the best way to go about properly (and more important legally) being allowed to work and live in another country. Any ideas where to start or what pitfalls to avoid? Is it necessary to go on holiday and try to schedule interviews etc? Any help you can give would be fantastic.

First of all, you have to file for citizenship in that country (and still retain your american citizenship) because if you are and American and take up a job in a foreign country, you will lose Citizenship in the US if the company you are working for is of that country and not the US
