why do bridal salons have such poor customer service? (bad hours, long waits for dresses, etc)?

My wife (and various female friends) have found customer service to just be deplorable for Bridesmaids. As a bride you are understandable treated like gold. But as a bridesmaid the service plunges to abysmal levels. If the dress doesn't fit you are told 'tough'. And the turn around time for a different dress is in the order of months. Men can get a new tux in _days_, women are expected to wait months. How do these businesses survive? I would say this is store specific but I have heard this story about all many bridal shops in Ontario. You said 15 hour days, that's a laugh! That is related to one of my points, sspecially as a man who also was a groomsmen, all of the bridal shops around here keep bankers hours. They open at 9am and close at 5pm. And my friends are convinced by their wives to be to use the same bridal shop for the men's tuxes as well. So I have to take part of a day off work just to get fitted. Meanwhile all the other men's shops are open until 9pm! If just one bridal shop was open past 5 they could clean up.

I have never heard a good story about a bridal salon - even the ones that calim to be different - they all suck - and i think it is beacause they can - every bridal party is on edge - unless you want to get a custom job done by an independent you have to go through them - they can charge seemingly outrageous amounts... Honestly, I didn't have that problem. My bridesmaids actually got their dresses at a different place than I got mine, but we were all treated quite well. But I live in NJ, obviously no where near Ontario.
