What is the best way to invest a small amount of money?
401 etc, what do you invest in? What is the best way to invest? Any advice. I have an average job, not rich.

You can go to sharebuilder and put some in monthly. If you pick a company that is known to be stable and pay good dividends then you can reinvest the dividends, it becomes sort of like compound interest, where the interest starts earning interest... More

Invest it in one of your 401k (no-load) mutual funds. If you are under 40 years old, select a growth fund.

Pick a diversified mutual fund that doesn't change a high expense ratio and try to make a contribution every month. I recommend Vanguard.
