What is it with all the recent Mexican hatred that's being thrown around?

I'm from the UK and recently, mostly on this site actually, I've seen a number of disturbing trends towards Mexicans and immigrants. Questions like "Should the border patrols be issued rifles and shoot on sight orders for all Mexicans". Disturbingly, many people said "Yes. !"
They're being blamed for unemployment, poverty, crime, drugs, you name it.
Bizarrely, recently they've even been accused of having something to do with the Sept 11 attacks!!

Where is all this coming from???
I think people are missing the point. If the only problem is that they are illegal. shouldn't somehitng be done about the immigration system to make it more possible for them to be in the US legally?

Our first objective was to tighten our borders. In the wake of doing that it was discovered that there were 11 Million immigrants living here illegally. The vast majority came here over a vulnerable Mexican border. The discovery led to severe critisism of the illegal Mexican population in the U.S.. All of the things you have mentioned place valid blame on i****************s, not necessarily Mexicans alone. The attacks of Sept. 11 were committed by a group of middle eastern men who, by the very nature of their business, were here illegally. The American economy has suffered through loss of jobs, many of which are not in the fields as first thought, but in the construction trades. There, illegal Mexican migrant workers are willing to do jobs for half the normal wages paid to a legal citizen & their wages are usually sent back to Mexico. Crime & drugs are the same thing here in the U.S. & most of it comes over the same southern border.
I had to rush my wife to the hospital emergency room last week. It was over-crowded, mostly with i****************s (verified through hospital staff). They were there because of no insurance & no family doctor. They were using the E.R. as a "clinic" for the sniffles & minor illnesses. We were there for 6 hours & finally left without any treatment.
Americans of all nationalities including Mexican-Americans have had enough. The UK would not do it any differently nor any better.
Since you added "missing the point", I have to add that we are not missing the point. We (Americans) have no argument with immigrants who come here to become ONLY Americans. It is our Country & we don't mind letting others join, as long as they obey our laws, learn our language & accept our culture as their own. We have room for many, but room for only one flag: the American flag.

Many americans tend to willfully fear the immigrants out of paranoia that comes from propaganda.

It's a horrible state of existence.

But I do think something must be done about the immigrant issue. Particularly at Mexico's expense. They need to find ways to advance and adopt technology and industry in their own nation. It's not that they are lazy. If they were lazy, they wouldn't bother seeking a better life in the States.

I've said it before, eslewhere, that many immgrants, wherever they are from, have done more to live in the States of America, than most caucasian natives. Just because you put on a suit and drive through McDonald's on your way in to work, to your overly demanding corporate slave post in which you seldom are able to spend quality time tecahing your children the practical things, doesn't mean you work more than Mexicans do. It especially doesn't mean that you've taught the next generation anything useful outside of which ties goes best with the current day's cubicle.

And it has nothing to do with the type of work, either. You are not your bank account. You are not your car, your house, your spouse, nor your favorite CD. And when people finally learn to get around the meaningless and overly bloated fashion statements of the material world and start learning some real skills for when the times come, then maybe we can start pointing fingers.

Until then, american education (or lack thereof) and yearly salary and the means of those accomplishments pales in contrast to the misgivings of another society, its government and what international and domestic industrialization have done out of irresponsibility for environmental and social atrocities.

Remember - it is not that long ago that the ancestors of the very people complaining now were immigrants themselves. All Americans except Native americans are descended from immigrants. How swiftly they forget.
Americans on the whole are scared of their own shadows (thanks to George Bush. That is how the Government want it to be). Anything or anybody slightly different is to be feared & most Americans nowadays (since every home has at least one gun) almost always turn to violence to solve their problems.
The point they are missing is that Mexicans are the ones who keep their country jogging smoothly because, unlike most Americans, they are not afraid to get their hands dirty & will take the jobs many people think are beneath them.
They are manual workers/waiters/cleaners/labourers etc.
America would grind to a halt without its immigrant workers. They should be treated with respect not abused.

You are dead wrong. Mexicans have lived peacefully in this country for many years. Ameicans are objecting to the 12 million illegal aliens that are flooding into the county overburdening our schools, health systems, etc. Some are criminals, child molesters, even terrorists. Every country in the world has immigration laws. Why shouldn't the US?

I think these feelings have always been there just that now everyone used the immigration debate to sort of throw out political correctness and become more vocal about their hatred for us. it's sad because i have tremendous respect for U.S. and its laws but if people are just going to turn it into a race/ethnicity thing then of course i have to side with pro-immigration

Because by pure form of the logic of the laws of economics(kind of like the laws of physics they cant be broken) they create an unatural labor market thus lowering labor costs with no substancial lowering of the price of the product produced, thus forcing american workser who should be paid a substanicially larger wage gets forced out of the market by this monopsony of businesses who will now only hire the illegal immagrants

With me it's a simple legal matter. When they cross our border illegally they are criminals, that must be treated as criminals, arrest and deported back to mexico. Police arrest reports indicate 70 percent of all violent crime in areas near the mexican border are committed by illegal aliens, 90 percent of drug crimes are committed by illegal aliens.
as i said Arrest them, deport them and do it today!

Most likely is because it is an election year and politicians thin think they still have the ability to capitalize on racism. Which here in the USA everyone Hates someone and since the Illegal Immigrant card has been floating out there for at least 15 years and no one has used it. Because of this Bush was caught with his Pants down Because the Religious right is not supposed to attack things of that nature But the Democrats seem th have no problem with it.
Answered By: prpipes1 - 6/17/2006
Peronsally I think it's just Bush's way of taking our minds off the War of Iraq. He did the same thing with Gay Marriage and all of a sudden it went away after a month or so then came back two years later when he had nothing else to use. But I personally have no problem with them being here I would just like them to be legal. They get free health care on our dime and dont have to pay income taxes on the job. They're called ILLEGAL because they are here ILLEGALLY. If someone stole some bread there would be no arguement here at all on what the next step should be. Illegal is Illegal no matter what. If its that big of a deal which it really isn't or something would have happened already, the law would have been changed to accomodate "illegals".

Welcome to the truth, now you can learn what's going on.

They are not immigrating or migrating, they are dual government sanctioned colonizing through La Reconquista and the nation of Aztlan to take land back to Mexico. And before you are against guns on the border, take a look at the reference below.

Your country comes here but doesn't want to get land back for the UK. Immigration with them stopped and colonizing began. See the difference? Atzlan predicts we lose California in 20 years the time to act is now with our government that isn't representing the people that sent them there.

There is an immigration law going thru the House of Representatives and Senate that will either allow the i****************s to stay and have a chance at citizenship, or deport them all. Many Mexicans (and other people) marched through the streets protesting the bill that would deport them. This angered alot of Americans. They mistook it for illegal Mexican immigrants trying to take over the country, or demand rights. You are correct when you state that people are suggesting that they be shot, it is horrible how racist and evil some people can be. I hope that this dies down soon.

Perhaps we have forgotten the history that has occurred for the past 200 yrs. lets review

1. We occupy by force the America's... and called it DISCOVERY even though there were already people here... we then enslaved those people.

2. We discovered the American Indians, the rightful property owners, we liberated them right into starvation and death

3. We discovered the black man ... we bought him as a commodity
and liberated him right into slavery... then we formed what is known as the police to keep them in line... beat them and worked them until they dropped... and justified it because they were less than human...

4. In the north we formed Unions of workers... (all immigrants) and there the police beat them and kept them working...

5. Did i mention that most of the land off-limits to Mexicans ... was stolen Mexican land?

quite an interesting little history, why should Iraq surprise you?
why should the Mexican hatred surprise you? Any employer will tell you the Mexicans work there butts off. Good workers.

America has been plagued with injustice, hatred, racism ...
hell... it was built on it!\

As the Mexicans go , its all POLITICAL , You see the Republicans have been in power for 15 years . 12 Million new DEMOCRATS would drive them out of office and give the DEMOCRATS the power to INDITE and they would be off to JAIL for there crimes against AMERICA.

Let me guess Mexicans can die in all our WARS and serve our country but they cant be Americans. Hateful and disrespectful to all who serve America, It shames me to be American.

It's NOT hatred of mexicans, it's HATRED of ILLEGALS,who sneak into the country, and expect EVERYTHING to just be handed to them, at the TAXPAYERS expense!!!!!!!!

Maybe you should EDUCATE YOURSELF on exactly what this whole thing is ABOUT,before you go passing judgement.

How would YOU feel,if the shoe was on the OTHER foot, and it was YOUR country being INVADED by MILLIONS of foreigners??? If YOU had to pay HIGHER taxes to support these people??? If THEY got benefits that YOU and your FAMILY did NOT??!! If YOUR hospital insurance premiums, etc, were OUTRAGEOUSLY high, because illegals USED the emergency medical services, and the COST was passed on to YOU,because they did NOT pay the bills???

You have a computer,look-up some articles about the cost to taxpayers in Arizona ALONE!!!

Its coming from law-abiding, taxpaying Americans that are sick and tired of foreigners coming here legally or illegally and trying to take over our country. We are being overrun by them! Most of them are just here for the free ride and just take and take and give nothing in return. They are rude and insolent, and act like this country owes them something. We were doing just fine until this influx of foreigners started coming in. We DON'T NEED THEM or want them! Today's immigrants are not the same people that came here 50-100 years ago. Yesterday's immigrants came to contribute.
Try watching the 6 o'clock news without one of the people being interviewed being a d**n foreigner.

Currently, millions illegal aliens commandeer jobs away from American citizens. If they don't steal those jobs, they depress the wages to the point of legalized slavery. We have an estimated one millionsof illegal aliens.
Meanwhile, profits soar for corporations while the middle class of America plummets into worsening unemployment. Will America drop into Third World conditions as economist Paul Roberts predicts? At the current rate of 4.1 million legal and illegal newcomers imported into the United States annually, it's only a matter of time before, we too, manifest conditions of the Third World. You can't drown the labor market with millions of people and expect to keep your wages high when immigrants will undercut you.

That's why the pay in China or India is less than $10.00 per day. They have 2.4 billion people in those two countries. That's why they live subsistence lives. In time, that reality will manifest itself in America as the middle class vanishes. It's already happening. You need look no further than California as an example of the first Third World State of America.

Mexico is NOT a poor country. It has the fifth richest economy in the world, and by sending its teeming masses to our country, that status keeps on rising. Mexico has more resources per square mile than the U.S. and plenty of money to take care of its own people. Why should the taxpayers of this country subsidize Mexico's corruption?

Whoosh.......*wiping my head* I am so glad you didn't use racists. I am so tired of hearing that word.

First off.......it's an election year. Second.......United States citizens were p****d when Mexicans tried to force their views on them. Third......it gives closet haters an excuse to form a group to "shoot" those they have hated for quite some time. Fourth......all the criminals (from SSN stealing ignorants to murdering rapists are now ONLY Mexican) and thus lead to some more backlash. Fifth......very few of us see the human aspect.

Bizarre was a great word........fantastic in fact. Mexican hatred shrouded in "illegal immigration" is what I call it. But that is just MY opinion!

To end......some great facts are actually brought out in this debate. The need for education.....(but according to most.....those who speak Spanish are not deserving)......the need for strict employer fines and/or jail, birth control, and above all AND MOST IMPORTANT ACCORDING TO MOST WHO POST. The need for people to park in their driveway and not enjoy their family time.

Peace.

9/11 was somewhat of a coincidence that caused the stock market to go topsy turvy. Then inflation became a problem again. Layoffs and outsourcing hit an all time high which meant that unemployment is high, too. So when people are feeling threatened about their job and their stability at work, they lash out at the next in line to take away thier income: illegal aliens. It's actually already happened at Walmart and in New Orleans---documented workers were dismissed to permit illegal aliens who would work for lower wages do the work instead.

I don't make any demands on the governments or the people, I honour local traditions and religions and generaly try to intergrate with locals. I am appaled by ethnic minority groups that make demands and trouble in their adopted country, and that, i feel is one of the things that causes racial tension. I have a child and i will bring her up to honour and respect Thai people and i hope that she will intergrate, become a Budhist, take part in the cultural aspects of her country, just as a guest would be expected to behave in your house. I will not be expecting the local school to teach my child a seperate religion or to respect her ethnic background, i will hope that she becomes as invisable as any other Thai person. Tony.

If you think that hatred is rampant now, before amnesty; wait and see what happens if amnesty is granted yet again. This is one of many reasons amnesty can't be given at this point. Face it, people all over the world, are quite frequently bigots and racists; even without good reasons for them to be that way. Allow a fundamentally different race or group to come into an elitist culture like USA, and if that causes degradation, unfair competition and ruination to that culture and that weatlh and success; you had better believe there will be Hell to pay for it on the streets. I think many people will die in a long term blood bath if this situation is not handled properly by our government. It is a war now and it will turn into A WAR big time if these folks that are not here legally, are not removed by our Federal government. I am not a hateful person for the most part. Live and let live. I am very much working overtime to not blame the illegals, who are the ones I compete with for services, products and general life style quality and see every day. It is our governments failure to follow our votes and laws that has caused this problem. It needs to be reversed, unfortunately at the expense of good, hardworking people - i****************s. They must go home and start the process anew. Do the process legally.
We relay on immigration legally for new blood and influx into our culture. This should continue as it has before and has many decades in the past. It doesn't need to be any easier or harder. It simply needs to be enforced. Enforce the law in effect and remove the illegals from this country. Come here legally. We are nothing if we are not a nation of laws.

Bapboy, no, the solution is not to let them all come legally. The problem is that they are already swamping our services such as education and health care which in border states can no longer adequately provide for our own people. We want them to respect our limits and not expect us to pay for them if they come illegally. They don't pay for us, why should we pay for them?

However, I think there are people who say snide things from behind a computer screen that they would never say in person, because it is anonymous. I have seen it on both sides of the debate. I think we could do without it.

I think in today's economy there should be a stop of all immigration. Jobs should be for Americans in today's tough economy! Agree?

I'm not stupid and I am quite articulate. I am 23 and have only worked for about two years retail in high school and stopped working to go to university. I worked a few months in 2010 retail after I dropped out but it was only a seasonal position, and the only reason why I have not been able to constantly work is because of mental health issues. I had also tried going back to community college during my free time since i left university in 2008/9 and I had panic attacks while in community college, which made my anxiety worse from then on. Well recently I met a good doctor and he prescribed me some meds that are stabilizing my moods and I feel the best I've felt in years, and I'm ready to work. Thing is, I don't know how to get a job now since I've spent literally years being depressed and anxious doing nothing. I don't really have anything to put on my resume, and I never finished my AA degree either. All I've done is cashiering and although I do the job well and I get promoted easily when I do these jobs because I'm a hard worker and I try to go above and beyond what they ask of me,which is the attitude I have no matter what kind of work I'm doing as long as I'm getting paid. But I hate cashiering because it's too easy and I want a job that is more interesting. Any suggestions for me on how to get a job that is NOT Retail with the type of background I have right now? I also realize I have to go to college to get certain types of jobs, I am talking about what I can do right here right now.

For the career fair I'm thinking of wearing just my nice shirt and a skirt with low heels. My reasoning being it's approachable and attractive without going overboard since the career fair hosts are mostly younger male recent grads. I want to be remembered but not intimidating. For my interviews I was thinking pants, suit jacket (power suit). My reasoning being it'll be older execs and HR people (mostly women) so less sexy with the pants but more powerful with the suit jacket. What do you think?!

I've always freelanced as a web designer and might have an opportunity to work at a large ad agency. sorta nervous about the culture and role, so I was wondering if I could solicit feedback about the type of strengths I might need to develop, ie., strong project management (learn to use basecamp!), etc. I've held jobs on the client side as a web marketing manager and before that freelanced -- but on the very small scale. anyone with similiar experiences or feedback I'd love to hear from you!

I am assuming I will have to start as an Escrow assistant and work my way up, but I would really like to find out more about this career path. How does an officer usually get licensed? Are there classes we need to take and exam to take? Any response is appreciated.

Advances in technology will soon cause 70-80?nemployment in the USA. How will all those millions of people eat, then? That will lead to a conflict between Social Market-ists (gov't imposed wealth redistribution) and Free Market-ists (no gov't imposed wealth redistribution). First, the Luddite Fallacy. It WAS valid UNTIL machines could do most human mental functions better than humans. Some experts are already saying this, but generally it seems like the American Society and its leaders are proceeding in utter ignorance. You probably know about all the technologies that now exist or will soon be up & running, & which will massively reduce the need for human labor in the economy, thus MAKING MOST HUMANS UNNECESSARY to the economy. Some facts: (1) A couple weeks ago all the toll booth workers on the Golden Gate Bridge were all dismissed because the gov't bought a machine to handle everything. (2) Computer voice recognition already exists, in programs such as Siri and Google Voice and others. But very soon these programs will be so much better. Virtually all the human-staffed customer service call centers will disappear very soon. Human office receptions will be mostly eliminated. (3) McDonald's already has a prototype version of their fast food restaurant with NO human workers on site. (4) Wal-Mart & other retailers already have plans for stores with NO human cashiers. (5) Google's driverless cars and trucks will soon eliminate most drivers of commercial trucks & taxi cabs. (6) IBM's computer "Watson" defeated the best human players on "Jeopardy" about a year ago. Watson had to hear and understand host Alex Trebeck's spoken speech just like the human contestants. IBM created Watson to replace Medical Doctors. The plan is that nurses and nurses practitioners will take data from patients (temperate, blood pressure, reports of pains, etc.), enter that into Watson, and Watson will order tests and make prescriptions and treatment plans. Unlike human doctors, Watson will KNOW EVERYTHING about medical science. Doctor errors currently kill about 100,000 patients per year in hospitals alone. Patients will DEMAND to be diagnosed by Watson (or other equivalent) & have a prescription by Watson, since studies will show that patients fare so MUCH better when Watson is their “doctor,” and the cost will be MUCH less. (7) Computers are now replacing the lawyers that formerly had to spend massive hours read through massive amounts of documents turned over to the opposing side in "discovery" in civil lawsuits. Documents now are turned over in digital form, and computers search in seconds them looking for key words and phrases. (8) Soon publishers will stop printing books on paper. Everyone will have an e-Reader device. That will be the END of every physical library and bookstore. (9) Soon computers will be able to general characters in movies that are indistinguishable from real humans. Not only actors will lose their jobs, but costume people, makeup people, scene construction people, camera operators, key grips, electricians, lighting experts, etc. (10) New machines are replacing the humans who pick vegetables in fields. (11) New machines are replacing human security guards. (12) Human airplane pilots, both in the military and in commercial service, will soon be extinct. The FAA has already approved testing of drone planes for commercial transportation of non-human cargo. (13) Most trades on Wall Street are already being made by computers. (14) The U.S. Postal Service is doomed. Paying thousands of people to drive around in little trucks to deliver little printed pieces of paper to each household each day is going to seem more and more like idiocy. (15) Most of the reviews and analysis currently being done by human accountants, actuaries, tax experts, and other financial analysts and consultants will be done must better, more more quickly, and much more accurately, by computers. (16) Web sites already are using computer programs to write the text for stories that report on sports games. The program integrates the statistics from the game into a story text that seems to have been written by a human being. (17)Most education at the college and high school level will soon be done online, eliminating a massive number of workers. Thus, GIGANTIC UNEMPLOYMENT, in the range of 70-80?is coming soon to the USA. This will result in Rio De Janeiro type slums all over the USA. That will result in calls for gov't wealth redistribution, which will result in Armed Revolution, Counter-Revolution, concentration camps, & Latin American-style death squads. The rich and ultra-rich are never going to let any government get control of their wealth. Huge bloody CONFLICT is coming. * * * Politicians keep repeating the old canard that the solution is to train and retrain Americans for the "jobs of the future." But they are either morons or are lying, since anyone who thinks about it can easily see that even if every American worker had an engineering degree or a computer science degree, the economy just doesn't need that many engineers and computer scientists. * * * * * * * Why don't more people see this? Why aren't more people talking about this? We are facing soon a catastrophe in the USA (and in other places) on par of the plagues in Europe that killed half of the population in certain areas, and on par with the depopulation in Europe brought about by WWI and WWII. Sure, you can just repeat the Luddite Fallacy, and proclaim that the economy will always create enough jobs for most people to survive. But there is no law of economics that says that any law of economics will always operate the same. Laws of economics are not like the laws of physics. Economies and life forms can and do evolve in fundamental ways that make former economic models and ways of life obsolete. I'm sure the last tribe of Neanderthals were certain that nothing was ever going to change, right before the Homo Sapiens swooped down on them, chased them into a dead end canyon were other Homo Sapiens were lying in wait with big clubs. * * * * * * * * * In the past the Luddite Fallacy was valid since machines always needed the mental acuity that only human operators could provide, and machines frequently needed maintenance by skilled human hands and minds. But now machines have mental functions that equal or surpass what humans can provide in most work functions. And computers aren't so much repaired anymore as just thrown away and replaced. How many cell phone repair shops have you ever seen? Even most laptop computers are replaced rather than repaired. More and more laptop computers never even need to be repaired for years and years. In short, when the economy has no use for most Americans, all h*ll is going to brake loose, & that's coming soon. * * * * *
