What can be done about National Forest rangers and Law Enforcement harrassing you ?

My husband and I took our 3 kids to HollySprings National forest to go camping. We were the only ones there. We found out 4 yrs ago there was a shooting a few sites up from the one we chose. Since then no one really goes there anymore. We paid to stay 4 days and only stayed one because our first day in , the forest law enforcement barrelled into our sight ,when I asked if we did something wrong , he said I hope not.He then proceeded to search through my food coolers and lifted our tents up and searched them. The next day the forest ranger showed up , 1 hour later another forest law enforcement cop came and started questioning us about our camp permit which was in the window of my car and he claims he didn't see. We decided to pack up and go home.A friend came by to help us leave and the same officer flew back into my site and searched him asked for his liscence and what not and my permit. I told him he just saw it. He said "That's right I forgot". They never told us why they did it

Call their supervisor and ask why they are acting this way. Write a letter to the park district and one to the newspaper. Why didn't you ask the officer why the harrassment?

dont know that you can do much, Park rangers have authority. If it was that upsetting to you and your family, contact an attorney. We do have some rights but they seem to be very limited anymore. good luck to you and camping should be a positive momorable event for the family.
