How long does it usually take to find a job in New York City, what is the best part of the city to find one?

I am planning on going to a college in Manhattan as soon as possible but I wont have much money when I get there, so I was wondering where is the easiest place to find a job. I am planning on having a future in New York City.

Get a job near your college. The rest of your question depends on your skills/experience and what type of work you want to do.

If you have truly saleable skills, it won't take long. If you're a complete waste of oxygen, it could be a while. So... which are you?

The quickest job to pick up that pays you cash fast is a waiter in any restaurant. If you work while in school it can be good bcz the schedule is flexible and you'll always have some cash. Even if you haven't done it before it's no hard to learn. It's hard to be a GOOD waiter but not hard to get a job as one.
