Does anyone have any suggestions for a finding a real job?
I am a 27 year old living in jackson mississippi. no matter how hard i try the only jobs i can get are in restaurants that pay nothing. i am in college studying medical assisting, but i still have a year to go and i need some now. I'm serious guys, i have 2 kids and i just want to make it and be somebody!

Apply at the local hospital They always have job openings and usually very good benefits. Get your foot in the door!

Try going to a "Staffing" agency or Temp placement company. Look it up for your area. You should be able to interview, and hopefully they can place you somewhere-- you can specify temporary work or temporary to permanent. Most pay wages start at $10/hour.

I wish you luck, but the field you are entering should be hiring, especially as baby boomers age. My suggest is to go to Amazon and search for a book called,"Go Hire Yourself an Employer." Have you gone to the job board at your local hospital? They may need people for ER registrations or something like that. Also, check with your school and see if they have any jobs available or any suggestions. I would look at hospitals and doctor's offices since you are studying to be a medical assistant... More

Try to find a job at a retirement home. They are better paying and give you more experiance in medical assistence.

You may have to relocate near a city outside of Mississippi. If you have customer service background try temp svc's like Spherion and they should be able to find a right fit for you. I'm sure you have already checked with your local hospitals, nursing homes etc. Or have you? There are a lot of jobs in those areas that don't require you to have your degree yet.
