	Illegal Immigration Question????????????? Ok i just want to know what you guys thought about illegal immigration. Can you explain what the whole deal is about? If you are for or against, you at least have to tell me one thing the opposing team has got right. So i can see it clearly without any bias to one side. I just want to know the whole story from both perspectives. Be nice, no insults. I just want you to present me with evidence of your statements. If your going to say something, you have to back it up. You have to be factual. I dont want to hear anything about "lets keep them" or "send them back", i just want to hear facts. Thats the only way you will win the case without being prejudice to one side or the other. The only way youll win is if you keep it clean and make a good case about it. Educate me. I have a bias. It is called freedom. I will give you facts, and you can see my conclusions at the end. Between 1776 and 1882, there were no restrictions whatsoever on immigration. Immigration is defined in this case as simply living and working in the United States. As a side note, my great-great-great-grandfather came from Holland in 1882, and was thus in this period. In 1882, Congress passed the Chinese Exclusion Act which specifically limited further Chinese immigration. The ban was supposed to be temporary but was extended repeatedly and made permanent in 1904. An 1882 law banned entry of "lunatics" and infectious disease carriers. A literacy requirement was added in Immigration Act of 1917. In 1921, the United States Congress passed the Emergency Quota Act establishing national quotas on immigration. A more complex quota plan replaced this "emergency" system under the Immigration Act of 1924, which greatly reduced the number of Southern and Eastern European immigrants. In 1932 President Roosevelt and the State Department essentially shut down immigration during the Great Depression. Unfortunately, xenophobia has existed since the beginning of this country. The March 26, 1790 Naturalization Act restricted naturalization to "free white persons" of "good moral character." Note that naturalization is required only for voting, unless social welfare benefits exist. I don't feel like listing any more, since you can see it at the link below. Basically, people like to be greedy. Think of it like a two-year old. Toddlers LOVE to talk about sharing when someone else has what they want, but once they get a toy they like, they "forget" what the word means. Immigrants love to talk about how the borders should be wide open, but then their children like to close those same borders. Unfortunately, the United States has a history of assimilating people groups EXTREMELY quickly, so that they forget what it's like to starve and need a job. When the entire world's population could fit inside Texas, with each man, woman and child EACH getting a 2,000 square foot house, why can't we support unlimited immigration? I wouldn't say that i am for illegal immigration, but I don't want to send all the i****************s home. I hope that there is a way to secure the border, prevent future illegal immigration, and provide legal status to those already in the country. I think that people with opposing views to mine feel a higher need for security than i do. I also think that they believe that illegal immigration is more of a serious crime than I do. I am against Illegal immigration because I do not believe in hoping the border. I know that people want to come to America and they have every rite to, but when they come they should to it legaly like all the other hard working immigrants that came to America to live a better life. Well I say they are a drain on our economy and I will tell you why. They steal our jobs and I have firsthand experiance with this. I tried to get a job, but since I am a legal citazen, they would have to pay me minimum wage and they would much rather hire an illegal and pay them less than minimum wage. They don't have to pay taxes, so in they end they end up making as much money, but still complain about it, and go to their unions which lead protests for them. I understand the argument that they come here for a better life, and realize how difficult it is to apply for citizenship, but it is worth it in the end, you are guaranrteed all the rights of a citizen unless you become a criminal. I am against illegal immigration for many reasons but mostly economic reasons. The argument that they do jobs we wont do doesn't fly with me everyone will do a job if they are paid well enough to do that job! when illegals come here they undermined our minimum wage laws and take jobs from others because they are willing to do them for less they drive wages down and get into an unskilled job market that has a high number of unemployed all ready! The facts are that most emplyers pay low wages to undocumented workers.The people on the other side of the border laugh at our inability to work hard. These so called illegals work two jobs pay rent and send money home to their needy families who have no way of finding an income in Mexico. The peso is about one tenth of a dollar. In other words if you sent 100 dollars to Mexico,it would be about a thousand pesos which would supply much food to families. I worked with many illegals in kitchen work and found them uncomplaining and very reliable. I learned more about their ways than my own and owe them a debt of humility which I will never forget. While some do come to this country and abuse the system, most only come here for work. I say, as long as they are hard workers and follow the rules and learn English, they should be allowed to stay and contribute to the tax base. As long as they have to sneak over here, with unethical employers, taking advantage of this, it will be counter productive. They don't want to come here illegally, anymore then we want them too....Most illegals come from poor small towns in Mexico....They don't know the language, they are scared living here, most have no education, but if they are willing to work hard, then why don't we let them? The debate is to whether are not modifying the immigration laws for Mexicans would benefit the US more or would provide zero benefit to the US. I'm for the immigration reforms. Pros: The economic risks to the US are less than the financial gains the US would have by giving amnesty to undocumented workers. Promoting traditional family values. It's important for families to be together. They're already here. Why not benefit from them and encourage them to spend their money here? Which came first, the chicken or the egg? The only thing pro-illegals have right is that it might be difficult and expensive to become legal. But could that be because we have so many illegals that we don't have room for legal immigrants? Or maybe our government supports illegal immigration because it is run by corporations that need cheap labor, and have no interest in people who come here legally because they can not be as easily exploited? Still, our average citizens are being hurt and denied opportunities they would otherwise have if illegals were not here taking everything they can get. Our citizens and local governments are forced to do something about this problem because our federal government will not. It's an odd thing about this country that the very rich and the illegals have the right to break the law and hurt others but if average citizens don't like it we are called racists. We are insulted daily by continuously decreasing wages, lack of jobs, lack of housing, and pitiful healthcare. As a matter of fact, the only way I know of for poor American women to get any healthcare is to stay pregnant with babies they can't afford to have. Consider too how insulting it can be to be told there are jobs that we won't do. I wouldn't mind the illegals as much if they didn't know they were hurting us, but instead they laugh and demand the rights they have stripped from us. Remember what thier politically correct name means-undocumented workers. Undocumented means untraceable and many of them actually commit crimes other than being illegal because it is easier to get away with it. I can't begin to imagine that kind of freedom, because US citizens have been stripped of all rights of privacy because of so much documentation on us. We can't even legally leave our homes without picture ID or we risk being arrested. And if we screw up one name it's not so easy to run away and get another. I don't see how anyone can be for illegal immigration. I'm all for immigration. My husband is not a US citizen and will have to immigrate, but the fact that the US has so many i****************s makes it harder for legal immigrants. For one thing, when there is a shortage of workers, a country loosens its immigration policies in order to fill positions. This is what is happening in Canada right now. They have loosened their immigration policy and people who have been waiting for years to immigrate to Canada from China, where I live, are suddenly being called for their interviews. I personally know of about 25 people who have gotten visas to live in Canada in the last 4 years. Some of these people applied 10 or 15 years ago. Others applied in the last couple of years. When a person is illegal, he or she has very few rights, which means that he/she can be taken advantage of. This means that they are paid slave wages and legal immigrants with low skills can't get jobs because they have to be paid legally, which is more expensive. Those people who are currently working those jobs that "no American wants" are actually taking jobs from people who want to follow the laws of the country they want to immigrate to but are being denied visas because they are no jobs that they need to fill. (That's a very simple explanation, but it is basically accurate.) They are perpetuating the fact that no one wants their jobs because they are willing to work for illegal wages. My husband is from Africa. Because many Africans who come to the US on tourist visas overstay their visas and reside illegally in the US, it is more difficult for those who legitimately want to visit the US to get visas. Also, when he gets here, though he has a university degree, he will probably have to do menial labor. 	Because of the economic crash should we end all new immigration immediately? At my company we advertised for some jobs and got hundreds of workers that applied for the jobs but instead of hiring a regular American they hired someone that was brought over on a special VISA form overseas. 	How do I get a job with Dodgy work history and no experience? Basically- no degree, although I have tried completing one in the past and stopped because of physical and mental health issues which were overwhelming to deal with along with going to classes full time. I'm not stupid and I am quite articulate. I am 23 and have only worked for about two years retail in high school and stopped working to go to university. I worked a few months in 2010 retail after I dropped out but it was only a seasonal position, and the only reason why I have not been able to constantly work is because of mental health issues. I had also tried going back to community college during my free time since i left university in 2008/9 and I had panic attacks while in community college, which made my anxiety worse from then on. All I've done is cashiering and although I do the job well and I get promoted easily when I do these jobs because I'm a hard worker and I try to go above and beyond what they ask of me,which is the attitude I have no matter what kind of work I'm doing as long as I'm getting paid.
