If your friend pleaded guilty to the offence he must have had a solicitor at the time, and people will have spoken to him from Probation...so unless he is exceptionally stupid...someone somewhere along the line mentioned theft from employer...if he didn't speak up then...what does he expect to happen now... He should talk to a lawyer and see what his options are......... I mean he still plead guilty to stealing whatever he stole. does it really matter if he was an employee at the time?

If it is wrong he can still change it. What difference does it make though? Theft is still theft and if someone is going to be put off by employee theft, they are just as likely to be put off by non-employee theft.
