Getting a Criminal Justice Technology degree...can I collect evidence at crime scenes with this degree?

I am going to be getting a degree in Criminal Justice Technology from ECPI online. I want to be able to get a job working at crime scenes, collecting evidence, etc. Or I would like to work with forensics or basically evidence in any sort of way. Will I be able to do these things with this degree, or will I need to take additional classes along with these ones? I heard I may have to become a patrol officer before I can be a CSI (I live in South Carolina), does anyone know how this works? I appreciate any help!

You will need a degree in Forensic Science with "hands on" experience to collect evidence. That on-line degree, while useable, is going to leave you far short of your goal. My girl is in law enforcement and is now taking a coarse for just that. She wants to be a CSI.
