I am trying to clean-up my credit to purchase a home.What are some good ways to start?
iMy family and I lost our home to foreclosure a year and a half ago,due to some bad financial managing.My wife and I both have 580-600 credit scores no credit cards about 3000 in negative credit.Have tried mortgage co.s to no avail.I am an excavator same co. for 19 yrs,wife is fitness instructor 4yr together 50,000 yr income. need help with cleaning credit and building credit.i.e. who to contact and what to do?

The only legal way to do it is the old fashioned slow way. Pay all your bills on time. If you have things in collections, call the company and work out a payment plan. Just using a rough guess... you can probably only afford $178K in a mortgage with your yearly income and negative credit. 620 is the magic #. Your right around the corner. Your timing may also work in your favor. The real estate market is shifting from a sellers market to a buyers market. I would recommend that you hang tight till next spring, your scores will be higher and the home prices will be lower.
