Why do people say that Mexicans take their jobs coming into this country?

Let's say they decide not to come. A GREAT majority work for fast food restaurants, janitorial services, construction, and fieldwork. Will the people like the minutemen who complain, actually do those jobs if they leave!!?? I would love to see these people complaining work at hot temperatures at overtime hours for minimum wage pay. Also, if they are so worried, why won't they go apply for the job!!?!? They obviously have more rights.

Whenever a new crisis develops in an election year and it's not
nature's or the stock market's fault, the odds are pretty good that it's not a crisis.

Witness the sudden discovery of immigrants, a much more comfortable topic for some than Iraq, global warming, globalization, or runaway corporate greed.

It's about finding a scapegoat for America's increasing problems. What America's white elite is doing is just what its southern branch did under segregation: teach non-elite whites to blame their problems on a minority. It worked well then and it seems to be working now.

But those wishing to test the extent of the immigrant problem might want to conduct this quick test:

1. Has a Mexican ever fired or laid you off?

2. Was the plant you worked for until it was sent overseas been
bought by Mexicans or is it still owned by the same people you used to work for?

3. Has a Mexican ever cut your pension or health benefits? Outsourced your job to India?

4. How much does Latin America contribute to global warming and its results - such as bigger hurricanes and more tornados - compared with the United States?

5. Was Enron run by Mexicans?

6. Are Mexicans responsible for NSA's spying you?

7. Do you think Mexicans or the pharmaceutical corporations are more responsible for high drug costs?

8. How much of the corruption in Washington has been instigated by the Mexicans?

9. Did the Mexicans' make us invade Iraq?

10. Are the Mexicans responsible for George bush being so dumb?

Chances are most your answers will be in the negative which is a clue to stop spending so much time worrying about immigration and turn your attention to something else.

Hostility toward others is a coveted and greatly cherished activity in the North American White Culture - You can see examples of it throughout our media - How mean-spirited we like to be -
Contrary to this- I believe Latino culture is built more upon cooperation and a passion for humanity -
I am a Non-Latino Anglo-American so it is particularly painful how my peers negatively respond to my efforts to help my Latino neighbors strive for a better life like anyone else would!
Sure there are sacrifices imposed on legal citizens whose businesses are extending a hand to the needy even if it's in the interest of cheap labor--- But isn't it a primary reason why we live and breathe - to allow the needy to share our bountiful table without harrassment? Or are we too blinded by selfishness to see past our own good fortune?
Who the hell are we to "decide" whether or not this issue is even a major political priority?
"Illegal" Hispanic immigrants from places the U.S. isn't helping...coming to the U.S. to get the help they can't get from anywhere else? Who's the one at fault here for making it such a struggle? These people wont apply for those jobs. but kicking out the i****************s will cause some outsourcing then there wont really be any jobs. especially with the minimum wage going up. companies dont want to pay more they want to pay less.

Yeah, americans are ignorant and always blaming other people for their problems. They are fat bastards who are too lazy to get a job, yet blame the mexicans, indians, chinese, etc for it. They like sitting at home collecting welfare, food stamps, and all the other stuff the country gives them for being citizens, but will never realize what the benefit of freedom really is. Thats why soo many jobs are being send overseas, because americans are too lazy and crooked to do the job in the first place.

The problem is that these hispanics come to American ILLEGALLY and do jobs for less than minimum wage. Now tell me as the big corporation do you want to pay $5.00 a hour or $8.00???? What do you think?? Americans will not work manual labor jobs for $5.00. And they shouldn't have too, and neither should the hipanics. First of all though most of the workers people are talking about are ILLEGAL and should not be working in this country in the first place. In this country we have laws and you must obey them. You do not get to enjoy the fruits of American why I pay for your six kids to go to school. These illegals do not pay taxes as some people would like you to believe, how could they??? They have no social, without a ssn you can not be taxed. I welcome with open arms immigrants but you have to come here legally, go through the process and be here LEGALLY. Anyone else here illegal I don't give a d**n about. And if it were up to me, you would be lined up and put on a bus and shippped back to Mexico! And if you tried to cross the border illegally you would be shot on the spot! I am also appalled by you people flying your d**n mexican flags in America. If you love Mexico get back there. You didn't see the pilgrims carrying around Englands flag did you??? If you want to be American, be American, fly our flag and speak our language which in case you didn't realize its ENGLISH, 85?f people speak it, so learn it or get the hell out@!!!!!!!

I believe your original ? was why do ppl say Mexicans take their jobs coming into this country.. The answer...probably because these ppl that say this have had their jobs taken away by Mexicans. And as for these jobs don't pay....sorry....My nephew is a carpenter. He makes about $50,000 a year. He works for himself and yet he is starting to lose business bec. Joe Blow across the street is hiring ILLEGALS (get that word) to work for him for nothing. This is costing money, and business for many Americans. Some...who don't have to fight daily for their jobs, like to say...."Well these "undocumented workers"(uh, yeah nice try...now try ILLEGAL again) are only doing jobs that pay minimum and that other Americans don't want anyway." You'd better wake up out of your dream world and see what's really going on. Or it just might be your job next. Now wouldn't that be a shame?!
Answered By: rainynghts_71 - 9/26/2006
I agree.....they say that Hispanics are "taking" jobs away from Americans......how is that possible......I have 2 jobs....and didn't "take" them from anybody....they were there for the asking....and there in lies the problem....Americans like to complain and complain but do nothing to better their own situation. If your unemployed because you feel that the job you wanted was"taken" from you...KEEP SEARCHING!!!! I shouldn't have 2 jobs.....but I do because I WENT AFTER THEM......THEY WERE THERE......THEY WEREN'T GIVEN TOO ME......stop complaining and do something to help yourself instead of depending on the government to do it for you.....
Answered By: Aztek G - 9/26/2006
If we didn't have all the illegals to do the work at less than minimum wage, then companies would have to research other ways of getting the job done. For example: instead of having dirt-cheap labor on our fields picking vegetables, we would design equipment to do it- but why bother when we have the illegals?!?! Them working in the fields cheaply= an engineer that could have design the equipment= unemployed engineer. I don’t know where you live, but have you checked-out the cost to welfare, law enforcement, hospitals, etc in you town? Do you know how many BILLIONS of American dollars they send back to their countries annually? Do you actually believe that they make-up for the BILLIONS spent annually on them by picking a few vegetables? Every “wealthy” country on this planet imports labor- we just need to stop the illegals from gaining access.

It is not just Mexicans it's other nationality's as well. you have got a man right here that works in those hot temperature's, in what used to be overtime hours, with over time pay. But, no over time as of late, and barley enough work to go around. I complain because they do come over here and take my 40.00 an hour job and do it for 10.00 an hour. That puts me out of a job. In commercial and industrial construction its no longer "how well you can do your job", but how cheap your willing to do it for. not all of us had opportunities to go to collage. I'm so sick and tired of people putting down construction workers! we used to get paid well for our skills. most of us are highly intelligent and some of us do even have a college education. Soon every one will realize unskilled is exactly that, and we will be hired to come in and fix every thing more than we are now (which is quite often).

At my company we advertised for some jobs and got hundreds of workers that applied for the jobs but instead of hiring a regular American they hired someone that was brought over on a special VISA form overseas. I heard there was many qualified applicants but they wanted to pay less so they claimed there was no qualified Americans so they could get a low paid foreigner. I think in today's economy there should be a stop of all immigration. Jobs should be for Americans in today's tough economy! Agree?

So today I went in for an interview and I was going in for the 2nd interview by the head chief executive. now this is where it got weird, so she asked me about my previous jobs and said how much she liked that product over that product. then she started talking about her daughter? an her divorce ...then how she didn't finish college because she was making more money doing what she did for this company ... then she talked about how her teenage daughter is a handful... I just played it cool thinking she was using some sort of psychology thing to trick me into saying something stupid. the interview ended and she seemed happy an I was escorted to the door... now I'm freaking confused? is this normal behavior for an executive? like it felt like she was going to burst into tears at one point and tell me her life problems... is this normal? was she trying to see how I react or something?

Basically- no degree, although I have tried completing one in the past and stopped because of physical and mental health issues which were overwhelming to deal with along with going to classes full time. I'm not stupid and I am quite articulate. I am 23 and have only worked for about two years retail in high school and stopped working to go to university. I worked a few months in 2010 retail after I dropped out but it was only a seasonal position, and the only reason why I have not been able to constantly work is because of mental health issues. I had also tried going back to community college during my free time since i left university in 2008/9 and I had panic attacks while in community college, which made my anxiety worse from then on. Well recently I met a good doctor and he prescribed me some meds that are stabilizing my moods and I feel the best I've felt in years, and I'm ready to work. Thing is, I don't know how to get a job now since I've spent literally years being depressed and anxious doing nothing. I don't really have anything to put on my resume, and I never finished my AA degree either. All I've done is cashiering and although I do the job well and I get promoted easily when I do these jobs because I'm a hard worker and I try to go above and beyond what they ask of me,which is the attitude I have no matter what kind of work I'm doing as long as I'm getting paid. But I hate cashiering because it's too easy and I want a job that is more interesting. Any suggestions for me on how to get a job that is NOT Retail with the type of background I have right now? I also realize I have to go to college to get certain types of jobs, I am talking about what I can do right here right now.

Recently I have overlooked for a project at work and I am unable to accept it why? I am hard working, dedicated, maintain a very professional decorum, very cordial with my colleagues and bosses, give respect to one and all. Still people who take the p***, argue with managers, gossip mongers have been selected for some very responsible positions at work. I seriously can't get my head around it why, why unprofessional people who have no work ethics being selected over me, whereas I have a track record of excellent performance and never shy away from any work my manager ask me to do? I am at my lowest point and not getting hold of my manager to ask the question why not me, why them who can't even bother? I am feeling like a complete loser, giving years to this place, building my performance, trust and this is how I get rewarded. Why my life is so shit, anything I wish for turns to dust?

So I have a nice white button up shirt, business skirt and pants, and a suit jacket. I'm applying for a software development job and I'm very short and can look young so I'm trying to look adult, yet professional. I'm also attractive so I'm trying not to look too sexy. For the career fair I'm thinking of wearing just my nice shirt and a skirt with low heels. My reasoning being it's approachable and attractive without going overboard since the career fair hosts are mostly younger male recent grads. I want to be remembered but not intimidating. For my interviews I was thinking pants, suit jacket (power suit). My reasoning being it'll be older execs and HR people (mostly women) so less sexy with the pants but more powerful with the suit jacket. What do you think?!

How do I get my name out there? How much do event planners charge for their services? I have a lot of questions, and hope that people who are self employed would be able to give me some pointers on getting my business up and running. Thank You in advance for your time and help.
