My best advice if your interested in getting more out of LV that it gets out of you is to read the advice of some REAL experts...
Max Ruben - "Comp City"
Jean Scott - "The Frugal Gambler"
Anthony Curtis - "The Las Vegas Advisor" = Newsletter>Web Site
Bob Dancer - Video Poker expert
Some web sites to get you started
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.comhttp://www.groups.yahoo.com/group/vpfree this site is about the VP scene, but you can use the slot club information on each casino to compare - play vs comps
I play 5K-6K per day>which means 5 hours or so of quarter VP >$1.25 x 4000 hands = 5K > 800 hands per hour is average for VP player...600 hands per hour is slow...Some players, play over 1000 HPH but that's a little fast for me....
Okay now down to the important stuff, what does 5k per day get me? At Main Street Station I get a minimum offer each month of 2 nights free, plus double points and a $20 food credit to start with, even though with my play I have never paid for a meal at MSS...Sometimes the offer is for 3 or 4 free nights and free entry into VP or Slot tournament....
Las Vegas Hilton - Offers range from 3 free nights "including weekends" to 4 free nights with free entry to VP or Slot tournament...Sometimes the offer is only 2 free nights....LVH does offer many times per year "casino rate" weekends you may pay anywhere from $99 to $199, BUT, IMHO the "stuff" you get in return usually far exceeds the cost....I was unable to get a flight from KC to LV for New Years so I had to cancell the deal, but I was booked at the LV Hilton from the 29th of December to the 1st of January...Friday/Saturday/Sunday NYE weekend for $199 plus extras including tickets to the NYE party...
Orleans - Offers of 2 free nights several times per year...It does not take anywhere near 5K to get this offer from Orleans...Just stay there and play there
I have been going to LV for the past 20 years on a regular basis...I average at least 4 weeks per year in LV....Everything from full RFB for 5 nights in a suite at Caesars Palace, several years in a row....To a comp Super Bowl weekend at the Venetian ....MGM free...To taking advantage of free nights at most of the 2-3-4 star hotel/casinos in LV....I refuse to stay in a dump, even for free, NO Westward Ho, Gold Spike, or Western >etc for me thank you...It's all about the value, I get in return for my play...
My first visit to LV was in 1967, it has changed a little since then...
Have fun...You will come out ahead if you play advantage games...Know how to play them well, and use a money management system, such as a win goal, loss limit strategy..
The best table games to play are Blackjack if you learn and use basic strategy "card counting is extra" there are very simple effective card counting systems that will not give you a headache!!
Play Baccarat >Mini Baccarat for most of us, a very simple game with a very low house advantage... Bet on the Banker or the Player...The tie is a bad bet...
Craps> Play the Pass Line > Take the Odds > Place the six or Eight > ALL of the other bets range from bad to terrible....
Video Poker - IMHO is the best to play and the best way to take advantage of "the system" = get the deals that is...The best VP games include 9/6 JOB 99.54? 10/7 DB 100.17? FPDW 100.76? JWKOB 101?4700RF) or 100.65?4000RF)..I include JOB because the strategy is easy to learn and has a low variance, most VP players start with this game...Strategy cards are available from the LVA....
And I was going to keep this answer short.. LOL
