The Army is a community and has different groups that do different jobs. If they were mobilized, it would take the cooks, logistics, quartermasters, transportation, medical and all the different groups that make up the whole, moving together... More

active duty Army is usually the most apt to be deployed in combat, but the reserve and National Guard are also sent in on occasion

Generally, Active Duty soldiers are most likely to go to war first. In fact, there are specific units that get sent first - last I knew those included the 82d Airborne, the 101st Airborne, and the 24th Infantry.

Infantry, or armor are most likely to get sent. Also, MPs/security and such. It doesn't matter if you're guard or anything in the army. They'll send you if they need you. In the Air Force, Reserves usually get sent out in short rotations, depending on what type of unit you're with.

All parts or branches of the Army support one another. So if a war breaks out all will go. The Infantry, is the foot soldiers and the worst job in the Army, according to my Father. The National Guard is the back up for the regular Army and right now they are in Iraq just like the regulars.

Anyone that is in the US Military for the next four years, will be involved in a deployment to a war zone for at least one year. If you are in the National Guard or Reserve, and you have an obligation for the next six years, you will be deployed at least twice to a war zone.

I spent nine years in including the Guard. Infantry soldiers always are sent to the front lines. Right now, guard units are all taking turns going overseas. And if you get a job working with weapons or nuclear agents, you will be sent.

If you are asking because of Iraq, I'd say no branch of the military is protected from going to war. I've heard on the news that Navy people are getting blown up in the streets of some of those towns. There is no safe place in the military, at least not now.

Do you really have to ask? The infantry, armored, and artillery, along with all the combat support people.

Anyone in the Army can get sent to war. That is what being in the Army is all about. You are constantly training to go to war and be in war situations. That is why you train in the field and you learn to use a weapon. If you are an admin person you can get sent to war, just as easily as a ranger. Everyone in the... More
