Is it appropriate to ask a girl out, while she's on the job?

I'll be blunt: I don't like going into "Pier 1 Imports", but there is a very a***************e working in there. I've been hesitant to ask her out seeing that she's on the job; customers, as well as her co-workers are always around. But she seems nice, and I'd like her to be my lady. I've never run into a scenario like this, so I've had a difficult time strategizing. Anyone have any opinions and/or possible approaches? I don't mean to be a puss, but this to be a tough one. Thanks.

Hello there, i think that it is not appropriate to ask a girl out while she is on her job. The reason I said that is because she may have a lot of pressure on her at work. The right thing to do is ask for her phone number or something you can communicate with (e.g. e-mail address.)

Bye bye
Good luck!!

It depends on the situation. Does she seem to like you? Is there mutual flirting going on. The problem with asking a girl out at work is that it happens all of the time and it gets old. Maybe if you just asked her if she had a break coming up soon and offer to buy her a cup of coffee. Then you can talk for a while and maybe you can ask her out on a real date then.

It doesnt matter where it is. if u r that dude, u r that dude. as long as u show urself as a self-confident person and you know what you are doing, it might end up helping u out way better b/c u r being unique also.

Well there's not really a problem with doing it but you chances might not be that great. She probablly gets hit on all day long and might just see you as another guy drooling over her. If you really want to go for it I'd suggest going there awhile before they close, and go buy something right when she's about to get off work. Try to make some casual conversation and have some type of plans set up in which you can invite her to right after her shift. I went through a phase where I was dating alot of different waitresses and that strategy ALWAYS worked for me, although I had friends along to backup the story of plans that were going on and got to do my casual conversation between the meal and refills and such. Might be harder if you cant find a way to sneak small talk in.
Answered By: Somebuddy - 1/7/2007
After buying something, write your name and number on the receipt, tell her you think she's beautiful or whatever and that you hope to get to know her better if she wants to call you. The offer of "if" she wants to call you makes it seem less cornering. In other words, you don't want to make her feel like you cornered her into "having" to listen to you. It worked for me real well, but timing was key as I had to find a point where she was away from others for a moment.

It is not appropriate to ask her while she is on the job, but it is perfectly alright to ask her after work.

Ahhh the shyness. I was once like you. Let's see I know it's difficult to just come and talk to someone who you're attracted to. But sometimes you MUST be brave. You have to overcome it. It's easy for me to say but trust me only you can change yourself. Just think it this way are you going to DIE if she rejects you ? Of course not. Remember everyday is a chance. So go ahead be brave.

let me see if I can reduce your shyness tension. You could pretend to buy something from the store or buying something there for real. And while you're at her desk ummm pretend you don't have forgot your money or finding someway to stretch your time and while you're doing it smile at her. But watch out she might not be single !

That is so sweeeeeeeet!!!!!!!

I've been a cashier so I know how she feels.. most likely she has noticed you coming in .. well often. lol. And she will respond to it. Women speak mostly in body language and what Is NOT said.. lol.. its true!! We should write a book on it..... anyway have you started to smile at her? Does she have any hints? If so then all you need to do is start a conversation up. Ask her to help you with something.. that will get her alone.. look for something in a place of the store that will give you some privacy.. not to far away though.. just far enough. Then when you ask your questions about certain merchandise, see if there is a spark. You can always find something flirty to say at pier one.. lol.. for a girl, a man looking for something to make his home nicer is kinda sexy. Lights, chairs, even champagne glasses.. that may be what you want to be asking about. IF you feel something don't let her go to quick back to the register. Smile at her and make EYE CONTACT.. see if she smiles back or if she laughs.. laughing is good. If you can tell her a good joke or break the ice that would be great. Number one be a gentleman. I would tell her that you do not want to get her into trouble but you really did want her advice on what you were both looking at. Compliment the advice she gives you. SMILE again. See what responses you are getting. She may be shy so dont touch her or stand too close. The more you laugh the more a woman will tend to trust you.. I would go in the evening.. but if you do go during the day be sure that you are not the only one in the store and that you are not the 100th in the store.. get a medium day. Once you know that she is smiling back at YOU and yes she is giving a vibe then you can go ahead and softly tell her your secret. I think its sweet!!! Just tell her that you would like to talk to her sometime when you are not disturbing her at work.. ask her if she would be okay with that. Since she is at work you have her cornered that is why I am telling you to go slowly and gently. Have your number already ready.. dont write it down where everyone can see what happened to her and talk to her about it when you leave.. have it ready.. then she will know you put thought into this!! Write it neatly and not chicken scratch to impress. If she says yes and she takes it make sure you tell her thank you and admit that it was a bit embarrassing. Guys telling us when they are a bit embarrassed is always a nice thing for us to hear... it means they are honest and open. Be sure to keep SMILING and be confident once she takes it. If you can get a giggle out of her after she takes it that is even better. Leave her with a great memory of you leaving.. dont just turn and run out. LOL.
Once you are alone you may feel all this come natural.

I hope this helps you... it is advice from a woman LOL :)~

So today I went in for an interview and I was going in for the 2nd interview by the head chief executive. now this is where it got weird, so she asked me about my previous jobs and said how much she liked that product over that product. then she started talking about her daughter? an her divorce ...then how she didn't finish college because she was making more money doing what she did for this company ... then she talked about how her teenage daughter is a handful... I just played it cool thinking she was using some sort of psychology thing to trick me into saying something stupid. the interview ended and she seemed happy an I was escorted to the door... now I'm freaking confused? is this normal behavior for an executive? like it felt like she was going to burst into tears at one point and tell me her life problems... is this normal? was she trying to see how I react or something?

Basically- no degree, although I have tried completing one in the past and stopped because of physical and mental health issues which were overwhelming to deal with along with going to classes full time. I'm not stupid and I am quite articulate. I am 23 and have only worked for about two years retail in high school and stopped working to go to university. I worked a few months in 2010 retail after I dropped out but it was only a seasonal position, and the only reason why I have not been able to constantly work is because of mental health issues. I had also tried going back to community college during my free time since i left university in 2008/9 and I had panic attacks while in community college, which made my anxiety worse from then on. Well recently I met a good doctor and he prescribed me some meds that are stabilizing my moods and I feel the best I've felt in years, and I'm ready to work. Thing is, I don't know how to get a job now since I've spent literally years being depressed and anxious doing nothing. I don't really have anything to put on my resume, and I never finished my AA degree either. All I've done is cashiering and although I do the job well and I get promoted easily when I do these jobs because I'm a hard worker and I try to go above and beyond what they ask of me,which is the attitude I have no matter what kind of work I'm doing as long as I'm getting paid. But I hate cashiering because it's too easy and I want a job that is more interesting. Any suggestions for me on how to get a job that is NOT Retail with the type of background I have right now? I also realize I have to go to college to get certain types of jobs, I am talking about what I can do right here right now.

Recently I have overlooked for a project at work and I am unable to accept it why? I am hard working, dedicated, maintain a very professional decorum, very cordial with my colleagues and bosses, give respect to one and all. Still people who take the p***, argue with managers, gossip mongers have been selected for some very responsible positions at work. I seriously can't get my head around it why, why unprofessional people who have no work ethics being selected over me, whereas I have a track record of excellent performance and never shy away from any work my manager ask me to do? I am at my lowest point and not getting hold of my manager to ask the question why not me, why them who can't even bother? I am feeling like a complete loser, giving years to this place, building my performance, trust and this is how I get rewarded. Why my life is so shit, anything I wish for turns to dust?

So I have a nice white button up shirt, business skirt and pants, and a suit jacket. I'm applying for a software development job and I'm very short and can look young so I'm trying to look adult, yet professional. I'm also attractive so I'm trying not to look too sexy. For the career fair I'm thinking of wearing just my nice shirt and a skirt with low heels. My reasoning being it's approachable and attractive without going overboard since the career fair hosts are mostly younger male recent grads. I want to be remembered but not intimidating. For my interviews I was thinking pants, suit jacket (power suit). My reasoning being it'll be older execs and HR people (mostly women) so less sexy with the pants but more powerful with the suit jacket. What do you think?!

I am in the process of planning my own wedding and I am having a fantastic time doing so. I have always enjoyed planning things: group vacations for my friends and I, road trips, etc... I could be described as a slight control freak and I am a perfectionist. I know I would exceed, and enjoy my career, if I were to make this a possibility. How do I do it? How do I get my name out there? How much do event planners charge for their services? I have a lot of questions, and hope that people who are self employed would be able to give me some pointers on getting my business up and running. Thank You in advance for your time and help.
