How does Yahoo Answers make money by operation of this forum?

I dont see any advertisements on my screen. What is the incentive for them to operate these forums. But I have seen other Yahoo Answerers advertising jobs paying $10 + per hour to answer questions. What is this all about? Why woud Yahoo Answers be paying people to answer questions?

They are probably trying to drive traffic to their site. They figure since you're on Answers, you'll also check out other parts of the site. That's my guess anyway. They probably pay some people to keep the quality of answers high, so people keep coming back.

There is the occassional advertisement. It also builds loyalty to the yahoo brand which helps it get traffic to its other sights that have more avertisements.
