How difficult it is to get a job in America for a foreigner?

I am moving to the U.S soon and want to start working asap. I worked in India in Customer Serv field. I am looking for an office assistant's job. What skills do I need to have and how much do they pay? I was making $300-$400 (per month) in India which is not bad when converted into Rupees. I have a graduate degree in Physics. Yes, I am legally migrating as I am married to an American man. My knowledge of English is good.
