Cephalexin for my cat?

My cat is almost two years old. I am pretty certain he has some sort of urinary infection. Will it be okay to give him cephalexin that was prescribed to me by my dentist?

Cephalexin is okay for cats in general...however this may not be the proper antibiotic for this particular infection. If you feel like you can risk it go ahead and give your cat some. Get the feline dosage for cephalexin from, for example, the merck vet manual... More

Something prescribed for a human patient will do more harm than good, to an animal with potential UTI. The dosage is stronger, and could just cause an overdose/poisoning if you do not know what you are doing... More

No No No No. Cephalexin is a very powerful antibiotic....way to much for a cat. Never give an animal human medication. Take your cat to the vet. Never self diagnose your pets.

NO! NEVER, EVER GIVE A PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION TO YOUR PETS WITHOUT CONSULTING A VET! if the dose is wrong, or if it is the wrong medication, you could kill your pet! Take your cat to the vet. if your cat has a urinary infection, it could be due to the recalled food, so it will needt to be seen by a vet NOW!
