Is it more easier for someone to get a job as a Registered Nurse if they have exper as a medical assistant?

I am a Medical Assistant and I am interesting in going to college to become a Registered Nurse. I know that all jobs require you to have experience and since I already have 3 years of experience as a medical assistant, I just wanted to know will it be more easier for me to get a job as a registered nurse since I already a few years of experience as a medical assistant?

I believe so. I have a friend who did an extership while in nursing school and got a job right after college. A friend of hers did not take the externship and had a hard time finding a position. Good luck!!

It couldn't hurt. At the very least, you know the terminology and will do better in school! Where are you living? Here in PA (and also in NY) nurses are so scarce that many hospitals will pay for you to go to nursing school if you sign a contract agreeing to work for the hospital for a few years (usually 3 to 5).
