Going to a community college and need money for housing?

I'm confused on the whole grant thing, I need to go to college this year and haven't sent anything out yet. My teacher said i'm not behind with that though. I dont have a job right now but im planning to get one very soon, im done with highschool and I live with my parents. I really need to move out though but I dont know if theres some type of program or something that gives you money to help you live on? I have someone I can split the costs with already. Also, when I apply for a grant, do they need to know my parents income? Do they go by that to see how much money they can give you? But what if you're parents wont help you out with college? Thanks
