What is the title for what American's call a Stationary Engineer known as in Britain?

In America a stationary engineer is not a university educated person as the name engineer is usually used. A stationary engineer, to an American, is a blue-collar worker who tends the steam boilers that power and heat a large facility like a hospital, school, factory or office building.

From that description (assuming that this is a skilled job - i.e. that the engineer is responsible for repairing faults in the system) I'd say probably a Maintenance Engineer or Heating & Ventillation Technician... More
