I need to find a good job in the N Dallas area but am in San Diego. What is the FASTEST way to go about this?

I am in San Diego as I got out of the Navy here and my wife's family lives here, so we stayed while I was trying to find employment in the N Dallas area where we plan to move. That wasn't working as planned and I came back here to San Diego to take the Postal Exam. That was in Nov, and I have yet to hear from them and am getting tired of waiting. Here is my background: crap jobs (grocery bagger, fast food, etc..), security (unarmed, do not hold Guard Card) (1yr), Navy Electronics and Aviation Electronics (3yrs), Navy Personnelman (HR type stuff, paperwork, clerical) (3yrs), and now am working as a Marine Electrician building new ships (3mo now). I am looking to find a decent paying job ($18+, +better!) in the North Dallas area, but these website jobfinders don't seem to do much and I have put my resume on most of them. I have also put my resume directly on companies websties with no response. What is the best and fastest way to go about finding a good job in another state?
