How do I find drywall jobs and aquire the contract?

I just moved to Lafayette, LA and I'm interested in starting my own drywall business. Only problem is I just now learned how to hang sheetrock but I'm good with people and I speak both spanish and english. I feel I have a competitive edge being bi-lingual and the desire to succeed in starting my own drywall biz...can someone help?

i have been in the drywall business 10 years. you need at least 3 years in drywall hanging to minimally figure it out. i really dont think i would hire anyone with less than 5 years experiance to work for me because, well they usually are h***s. to be quite honest you really need to work under someone for a while... Go to construction site and talk to the people there. Give them business cards and say you have your own Drywall business and you'll give them a good price.

Get some more experience before you start your own business. You have no reputation and little visible work experience. General contractors will laugh at you if you try to solicit them now.
