Need more backbone! I have been working for more than half my life, but I've never found a job I loved.?

My current situation is one where my manager never encourages me, he micro manages me & my co-workers, and the worst part is when I interviewed for the job, he told me I would learn new things, be busy, etc. He stops by my desk to talk about People mag & other stuff that I find boring. Then, if I have question, I've learned he doesn't have that many answers and the ones he knows are usually wrong. Well, haven't learned a thing, my skills are getting rusty and to be honest, my manager is so weird he makes me uncomfortable. He's just "different" but not in an interesting or good way. I am very independant and for the most part, smart. I have worked in secretarial as well as acctg jobs. What kind of job would be good for me? I want recognition and to be able to support myself. I work for a small office and he is the manager of the dept. Someone said he got his job because he kind of slow and nobody would be threatened by him.

It sounds like you are a self motivator and need the freedom to exceed so look for a place that will allow you to work at your own pace... More
