How can Blair defend the Government's decision to suspend a fraud investigation into BAE?

Prime Minister has defended the Government's decision to suspend a fraud investigation into BAE Systems over arms sales to Saudi Arabia. WHY? "I don't believe the investigation would have led to anywhere except to the complete wreckage of a vital strategic relationship for our country, quite apart from the fact that we would have lost thousands - thousands - of British jobs." Blair I know little about the case but when I move to UK and I get a speeding ticket and it will mean a few less meals on the table, then I will plead on the basis that my breaking the law will cause me udue hardship and use this case as a precedent..yeah right?
