Why are most employers afraid to hire a Law student?

I've been looking for a steady job for the last 3 years, but the moment I mention I'm pursuing a law degree the interview ends and I'm told they'll "be in touch." With the economy in Michigan spiraling already and the strike of being a 2L, I'm at a breaking point. With that said, I turn to the Answers community to find a way around this barrier. I need to find work, and I need to make decent money. Law firms are out of the question because they want free help. Can you help me? yeah...well, I did that once and was forced to quit (at will employment and such) Wow...."mustbe"...Have you heard about the economical situation in Michigan??? Court houses aren't hiring; Police departments aren't hiring; heck...even KFC isn't hiring!!! In fact, they are all laying people off!! I posted a question to get helpful answers; so if you're going be hurtful or sarcastic, do us all a favor and just keep it to yourself. Thanks to the rest of you.
