Can they make us buy their shoes?

I work as a housekeeper in a nursing home in Florida. The new administrator is telling us that we have to purchase shoes now through them, as in immediately. About a month ago, I spent almost $80 on shoes that would not cause my feet to blister (I almost had to quit because of the pain.) I work hard, and really like my job a lot. They're going to deduct the money from my (small and much-needed) paycheck. What if these shoes cause blistering? What about the money I spent on the ones I have now? (That was a LOT of money for me.)

Actually the nursing home if they require you to wear a specific item (shirt, pants, shoes, etc...) that cannot be used outside of the workplace they have to pay for it. They cannot legally ask you to make this purchase. They need to reimburse you. Florida's laws fall under U.S. Federal laws.

I would go to your doctor and explain the situation you are in and he could give you a health note stating that you can wear your own shoes as you have bad feet, ur employer is being too harsh and probably just flashing their authority around Im sure your doctor would feel that they are being unreasonable and do this... each state has different laws, but... in most places, they CAN mandate you to wear a certain brand / style / color but they can not require you to purchase them through a certain retailer. You should be able to shop for them any way you want. try ebay... More

no one can compel you to purchase the products of your employer. But as a human being you should patronize the products manufactured by the company you work. You can refer to the one of the leading aerated drinks manufacturer - the staff will be send for orientation.
