As a recruiter for Bankers Life and Casualty, how can I convince people to come to career presentations?

My job is to look at a list of resumes of people qualified for the job that the company found online. I call people up and invite them to a career presentation. However, I only get paid for people who SHOW UP. Unfortunately, many people decline the offer, and about half the people who sign up to come in don't even show up. What can I do to make more people actually come in, or make the career presentation sound more interesting to people? I wanna get paid! What I say now is what my boss told me to say, and it's pretty basic but good enough. I just tell them I saw their resume online and Bankers would like to bring them in for a career presentation at such-n-such time, and would they be able to attend? My current strategy is just to call as many people as possible. Say I call 50 people. Maybe 10 people will sign up for the career presentation, and at the most 5 would show up!

I just went through a job search. I ignored all "career presentation" offers. Here is why: no details about the job. Is it sales? engineering? janitorial? What? If you can't tell me then sounds like a scam.

If not, then your correct in saying you have to "convince" them to come, which doesn't sound good at all. Are you trying to work from home? Have you... More
