Can you become a Peace Officer for the State of CA if you have a restraining order against you?

The father of my child is using drugs heavily. His current girlfriend even tells me what he does. She also says that even though I have a restraing order against him (for Domestic Violence), he can still become a Peace Officer or a Correctional Officer for the State of California. Correctional Officers are the ones that guard the inmates in State Prisons.

Here in Oklahoma, that is a big NO! You cannot work in any type of law enforcement, especially one with weapons, if someone has a restraining order against you. In some cases, you cannot even work security. Even if they can, a drug test that is government mandated before working in an environment like that will catch... More
