is it bad that i asked for a phone interview?

I recieved an email from Macy's for the HR Administrator position I applied for. I got the email on sunday, saying that they scheduled a time for me on tuesday, but on tuesday morning I sent a reply asking if I can schedule a phone interview before coming in for a group interview. Did I make a bad impression by doing so. I did not get a response as of yet, and I did not confirm whether or not I could come in for an interview soon. The reason I wanted a phone interview is because the job is down in DC and I'm currently in Jersey...thats a heck of a commute for an hr-long interview. What do you think?

As an applicant you really are not in a position to choose how the interview is conducted. Hopefully you will get a response but I doubt it.

I would not worry about this issue. They may reply and then they may not reply. I would go to Kohl's OR TJ Maxx OR some place close to my residence. There is so many looking for employment, they more than likely filled the position. Employer's like to be in charge and should be, when it comes to interview appointment'... More

That was bad. You don't dictate how you want to be interviewed by a prospective employer. That's their prerogative... More
