The Knights of Columbus are not affiliated in any way with Masonry. Although as Freemasons, we have no problem with our members being Catholic, the Catholic church has declared that any Catholic who joins Freemasonry is in a state of sin and cannot receive communion. We have many Catholic members however.

The Knights of Columbus was created by a group of Catholics in the U.S. originally as an insurance benefit organization that was fraternally based with a system of ritual. Only Catholics may join. Although I am not a Knight of Columbus, my father is, and from what I hear, it is incredibly similar to Freemasonry, but to answer your question, no, they are not a branch of Freemasonry.

That said, you should know that you do not need to know or be affiliated with a Freemason in order to join Job's daughters. You might be thinking of the requirement to join Eastern star, which does require that you are a relative of a Mason.

If you have any other questions about Freemasonry, please feel free to ask.

Knights of Columbus are Roman Catholic.

The Masons are Protestant.

The Vatican has severe warnings against Catholics joining the Free Masons.

Kinghts of Columbus are a Catholic organization not part of the Masons.

The Order of the Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded in the United States in 1882, it is named in honor of Christopher Columbus and dedicated to the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.

So, the answer to your question would be....No. Catholics were forbidden to join unions and organizations such as the Freemasons and so they formed there own fraternal service organization.

Job's Daughters on the other hand is a Masonic sponsored youth organization for girls aged 10 - 20. You might be out of luck if you don't know any masons.

As mentioned, no.

however, Freemasonry is NOT a religious fraternity/organization. Freemasonry IS a social fraternity that teaches moral lessons through symbolism, allegory and ritual. certain symbols are universal and as such exist in a variety organizations, including religion and freemasonry.

*the Vatican has severe warnings for anyone joining any group other than Roman Catholicism - that admonition is not specific to freemasonry

No the Knights of Columbus are not connected with the Masonic Fraternity. the Knights of Columbus are Catholic. However, in my area the Knights of Columbus and the Masonic Knights Templar are close friends and work well together.

In earlier times there were problems between the Catholics and Masons but no more.

The KoC was set up in direct competition to Freemasonry, offering those of the church an alternate option, but one that was still under the Churches domain of control.

As has been said Freemasons are not all Protestant and it is NOT a Protestant society. We accept all faiths and expect members to practice their OWN religion.

I am relatively poor but I have a huge desire for history. Namely the Armarna period. I can't go to a good college due to no scholarships but I've learned most of what I like by myself anyway. I understand that history jobs look at your education experience but since I'm self taught I was wondering if there were any alternatives.

Does it really matter what type of history masters degree I get if I am only going for an adjunct job? I want to teach k-12 during the day and maybe one or 2 adjunct college history jobs on the side. I really enjoy US history but will it hurt me when I try to get an adjunct job if I only have a masters in US Hist and not have it in World Hist instead? Thanks
