Is it easier to get into med school and become a doctor or to get a job as a biology professor?

The field I'm studying right now is microbiology/biochemistry, and I'm choosing between becoming a doctor and becoming a professor. My grades are decent (3.7 GPA), I go to a good school, and I'm starting up doing undergrad research this year (I'm a sophomore). I know it's pretty difficult to get into med school, but at the same time, isn't it also very difficult to get appointed as a professor even if you have a PhD from a good school? I think both professions help people a lot and they seem equally interesting, so help me out here: which one do you think is better? I'm outgoing and good at explaining complicated concepts in easy-to-understand ways, which I think are traits that are useful in both the fields I'm interested in.

Yes, it's tough getting into med school and becoming a doctor. However, becoming a bio professor may be harder. The reason is there are only so many open professor positions available at any one time. There are far less of these than open medical school spots.

Being a doctor will be far FAR more stressful. It will also be more expensive and take longer. You will have to have an internship where you will not make much money. I think that based on your personality traits, you would be a better Biology professor.

She is going for tenure while my bro has taken an admin. position at the Univ. Neither are US citizens but that is where they were able to find work and had to... More
