What is the BEST products to restore a neglected boats finish?

I just bought my first boat. The boat has been used exclusively in fresh water. The boat is several years old and looks like the Hull has NEVER been washed, cleaned, waxed. I know the dirt and grime will come off I just want to buy the BEST product to make the job easier. I have a grinder/polisher and requisite pads. I have AUTO rubbing compound but I was told I needed a product expressly made for marine applications. Any help PLEASE.

After washing it use a good grade wax. If its really dull use 3M Fiberglass Restorer Wax and a buffer. Great stuff.

a very fine buffing compound, an electric drill, a quality buffing pad, and about 10 hours of your time. it's impressive what will happen. p.s.- it might take several cold beers, too.
