How many hours of sleep does an elite athlete get?

An elite athlete that is with a full-time 9-5 job and with a family. I want to try and train for a triathlon, but I'm concerned that with a full time job, boyfriend, friends and family, I have to either cut into my social time or cut into my sleep time. What is optimal sleep time in order for the body to regenerate itself? Thank you.
