It is a fun, fast-paced design environment." "The ideal candidate has an eye for design – structural and interior – is proficient in AutoCAD, and is able to contribute to the creative design process on a daily basis. One must be computer savvy as our design team continually uses various software tools and FTP sites..."

To be honest with you I don't know what HGTV uses. However I know many architects and designers and most use AutoCad / Apple/ Macintosh / best design & photo software (they say) is compatible with this software/hardware combo.
