Are we best served by a News media that focuses on personal problems or national problems?

Are we best served by our news media when it focuses on personal issues rather that national ones? A crises in a families life may be of immediate local concern but does it serve us for the national media to spend hours and days on issues that are in essence personal. Would it not be better if the media would focus on National issues that affect us daily? Will Paris Hilton or Mike Vic's problems affect any of us? What about health care, crime, jobs, housing, unemployment, racism, government corruption, gas prices, how are the tax dollars being spent and why are we still in a war that many of believe is wrong. What good is a news media TELEVISION. RADIO, NEWS PAPER When its only purpose is to distract from the real issues and brainwash the American public into looking the other way.
