do trade schools really help jump start your career?

im 19 , and im clueless about college and everything. but in the meantime I was thinking about going to a trade school and picking up a trade. well actually thats what my fayher wants me to do. and he has a point, these little jobs here and there dont pay much and i dont see myself doing those jobs for the rest of my life .but on the flp side i see and know people who went to trade schools and colleges and ended up working the same place i work getting the same pay as me. sooo i mean does it really work or are trade schools a waste of time. what are some good trade schools?
