Enough saved up to rent and live in NYC comfortably ?

I am moving to NYC and will be renting (80% of Manhattanites rent so I wont feel like a loser) I am trying to figure out how much $$$$ I need to rent a nice place and have enough cash for at least 2 years. I am starting my own website for health and beauty and will be paying the bills with a lucrative part time corporate design job that pays 140k starting 2/08 in NYC. I want to move to NYC by January. I have 160k saved up. I plan to use some it towards rent/daily expenses. Do I have enough saved up to cover 2 years in NYC ? I plan to spend around 3-3,600 a month on rent.

Yes, you should definitely be okay...especially with the salary you will be earning. The amount you have saved is great too...many people move here with very little savings. Good luck with your website!!!

Enough money to live two years in NYC. Your plan matches rent in Greenwich Village, Chelsea and other great and interesting neighbors. All you need is to make good decisions and you'll have an unforgettable experience.
