Is it possible to become a financial advisor through online universities?

I'm considering studying for a career as a financial advisor, but at this point in life (age 26), and the fact that I am busy with a job in sales, I don't think I'll have the time to attend a university. Is it possible to mainly study for this by getting a finance degree through an online university, and if so, which would be recommended?

You may be able to do it. But if I were hiring a financial adviser, I think I'd want one that did more than study on-line.

Actually I am in exactly the same boat, and I have done some research. I don't think you need an actual degree, a lot of legit schools have online "certificate" programs that are enough schooling for you to sit for the CFP exam, and from there you should be pretty good to go.

A number of private institutions like Symbiosis, offer such course, and the corporate bodies of repute do recognize such courses.
