What percent of the USA population is in an ideological stupor?

At what point does the productive class call it quits and the system falls to communism. "Ayn Rand envisioned in Atlas Shrugged (barring outside forces such as radical terrorism doing us in first). In the conclusion of her novel, there are only a select group of self-motivated people capable of innovation and production left in the world. The majority of the population is in an ideological stupor which has left them incapable of invention and without the motivation necessary to be able to feel the satisfaction from a job well done. This eventually could occur because those who advocate government running our lives, sometimes referred to as a nanny state, are actually pushing the socialist agenda to which Gramsci refers in his Prison Notebooks and which Rand railed against." http://freedom.org/news/200709/11/salvato.phtml

It's not there yet, but easily could be. Give the government more control over industry, our private lives, increase taxes so that we're supporting our neighbors who might not want to work as hard as some of us do and make them our 'equals'. Then see how quickly we will be facing an ideological stupor.

Perception is key here. One man's trash is another man's treasure. With current media outlets and everyone keeping up with the jones'(which nobody knows who they are anymore), it's created a society of apathy and lethargy. People are expecting the government to extend it's "tit" to feed on. It's getting to the... More

I'm not sure of the percentage, but if the middle class in this great country don't wakeup soon, it'll be to late.

I would say people fall into and out of that stupor at different times. Very few people stay in that stupor forever as something is bound to knock them out of it. But once the person adapts to the stimulus that disturbed him, the person settles back into the stupor and the cycle continues.

When the people feel complacent , nothing really matter anymore that is unless the leaders say something .

probably about 80%...it's been a long time since we have seen anything truly new and creative happening...I must admit that after listening to likes of Hillary I feel the urge to just quit...give up...she makes me feel that no matter what I do she will find a way to destroy any sucess I manage to achieve.
