How do you become a tattoo artist?

I'm 15 and I design alot of tattoos and alot of people come up to me and ask me if my tattoos on my arm are real. They are not...I'm not allowed to get any tattoos and I design my own with sharpie pens. Othe rpeople asked me to draw tattoos for them. do you become a tattoo artist?

Make a portfolio of some of your art work, and see if maybe you can get a job at a tattoo shop as counter-help. You'll learn a lot about tattoos and the world of tattooing through this job... More

I'd suggest going into a tattooing salon and asking them questions. Maybe you could watch the tattoo artist there to learn more? Also maybe you could even get a job there! Just keep trying and if you really want to do this, you'll find a way!

There is schooling, but you should become an apprentice b4 actually doing the real thing because drawing witha sharpie and tattooing on skin are going to feel different

well I have a few friends that are artists. you have to find a shop that is willing to let you apprentice and then they will show you tricks of the trade. you will have to practice on a honey dew mellon or something that has the same sort of texture as human skin. most of the time you also have to buy your own... Start getting a profile together now; Take health classes on blood born pathogens and maybe a few art classes. When you turn 18, try for an apprenteceship; Show an artist your work & hope that they will take you under their wing.
