Is it illegal for my employer to share the info in my Drivers License and paycheck?

I found out that the Office Manager at my job shared the information of my drivers license and the amount of my paycheck with a mutual friend. Is this illegal?

the short answer to your question is yes it is illegal for an empoloyer to share information with anyone. the longer version is pretty much the same but additionally, your employer had no right to share that information with a mutual friend or anyone outside of your work or inside for that matter without the proper... DEFINITELY! Everything in your personnel file is confidential. It cannot be released to an outside party without your written consent, or a subpoena.
