Does anyone know any companies that will hire beginner truck drivers to drive locally?

My husband just got his CDL Class A license. He does not want to be an OTR driver. We have small children. He has been out of training for 3 weeks and needs to drive immediately. He has applied to several companies but they want experience, where is he supposed to get experience if no one hires him. Also are there any companies that he can work for that will allow him time home every night?

I got a job driving locally right out of driving school, but that was 10 years ago. I know we have hired new drivers recently, although we don't like to. Try a local dairy or Sysco, or something like that. Only part of the job is driving, most of it is humping behind a two wheel dolly.
