Professional car detailing or do it yourself by renting steam cleaner from grocery store?

I've never had my car detailed. My carpet has gone though years of coffee spills and spot cleaning. I recently called a local detailer and found out they charge $179. I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried to detail themselves by renting the steam cleaners at the grocery store or if I should just pay the money for the detailing.

don't rent the machine. buy one. you can always use the machine to clean around the house. or YOU could charge $100 to detail for others! good luck.

If I were you, I would atleast try it. If you find it difficult to maneuver in your car, remove the seats. Then after the car is done.....START ON YOUR HOUSE. You can't lose. Good luck.

If you could not clean one section of the carpet to the degree you are looking for, stop and take it to the detailer. Renting a steam cleaner would do you no good unless you are... More
