Do I have to remove the dead grass when treating for Grubs?

Will thatching help too before putting Grub-X down? Should In treat entire lawn or just the brown spots? Oh yes. THey are grubs alright. You can peel the dead grass back like a rug, and you see them right away. They are white with red / brown heads

First, moving an insecticide past a turf's thatch is a difficult proposition. It takes a lot of water. Anything that you can do to help improve the penetration to the root zone, including removing the dead grass or dethatching will help. But also remember that dethatching damages a turf. dethatching will help, but are you sure you have grubs, brown spots may be caused by other things. And yes the entire lawn should be treated if grubs are the problem.
