Carpet Cleaning and Birds?

Has anyone had any ill effects from having their capet professionally cleaned around their bird? I will probably skip the protector they use after they clean it. I am using Stanley Steemer tomorrow and need some quick answeres. Thanks

I use nobody BUT Stanley Steemer, because they can clean with absolutely nothing but water. They always do a fantastic job, and I just can't recommend them highly enough... More

could you put them in a different room when theyre being cleaned and for a little while after? we just had our carpets cleaned and we just moved the birds out while it was still really wet and put them back the same day. there wasn't an odor or anything really. the birds are all ok too. im not sure if it differs with... I have heard of tragedies associated with carpet cleaning. The chemicals in the solution your pour into the steamer can be toxic. If you can, remove your bird(s) entirely from the house for 24 hours after you've cleaned the carpet (or until it's completely dry). If you don't have that option, move them to a room... More
