What type of people live there?
Montrose has historically been the bohemian center of Houston. So it has always attracted a person who is more of a free spirit. Many of the historical homes are currently been replaced with new multi-family townhomes and this has brought a different element. But over all people get along with their neighbors.
What types of resources does the area have for the community?
The Houston GLBT Community Center is located on Montrose, Legacy Community Health Services is very close, The Montrose Counseling Center is also near by. The Metro Rail is near by and may be expanded in to the neighborhood.
What are different ethnicities of people do you see there?
Every kind of person that you find in Houston is located in Montrose. Some areas have a more recent Latin American Immigrants.
What are some of the biggest attractions there?
For me, I'm gay so I want to be in the center of gay life. My job is 20 minutes away and I do not need to get on a freeway. I can be in downtown in less than 10 minutes. I have always enjoyed inner city life and will never live in a suburb.
What is it like for a gay person to live there?
The best place for a gay person to live who is looking for more activity. The gays who are looking for a more quite neighborhood tend to live near by in The Houston Heights.
What is it like for a straight person to live there?
I would not know. If a straight person lives there they have better be open minded after the Gay Pride Parade goes through the neighborhood.
Where do people shop at?
The whole neighorhood is dotted with different shops. Stock with merchandise you would not find in a mall. I go to a mall once a year to buy christmas presents for my family and the rest of the year I I have not need for a mall.

Depends on what kind of training you have. You can do anything from wait on tables to run a charity or be a CEO for a downtown company.
