How do you go about moving without a job to go to?

My parents aren't exactly the most educated in the ways of moving, so I was wondering, how can I move to New York City, when I don't have a job to go to, and no money to rent an apartment?

NYC is very expensive. You'll never find a place without money. If you know someone there, see if they'll let you go there for a couple weeks to see if you can find some work. Make sure whatever you find will be enough to get a place and pay your bills.

NYC is NOT a place to go to without a job or money. Rent for a decent place can easily be $1500 to $2000 a month plus utilities. In real life, the apartments you saw on the TV show "Friends" were place they could not afford per their age and occupations. Check the apartment listings in the NY papers to get an idea... More

You can search for jobs from any location from sites like monster.com. You can apply for positions by email or fax depending on what that employer requests.
